Hi! My name is Kristi and I’m a mom of 2, wife of 1, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, friend and neighbor of many. I’m a day dreamer with a LONG list of projects yet to be completed. I’m a lover of coffee, breakfast for dinner and all things vintage. And I’m the creator of Barn Owl Primitives. I’ve been designing and hand painting typography word art for over two years and I have a little shop on Etsy.
I was so excited when Michelle contacted me about doing a giveaway with her!
I love meeting new people and I’m honored to be hanging out “across the pond” with you today!
I opened my shop, Barn Owl Primitives {BOP} on Etsy just over two years ago. Things were slow at first, but after months of marketing my shop on facebook, building relationships with fellow Etsy shop owners and bloggers, I started to see some sales. During those first few slow months, I read every article on the Etsy blogs about how to build a good business. I researched ways to improve the photographs of my products. I educated myself on what it means to create a brand and I set out to make BOP something that people would recognize. I focused my energy and efforts on designing new and exciting products and looked for big and small ways to set myself apart from my competition.
One of my favorite quotes is from Thomas Jefferson.
“I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.”
I also believe that if you work hard and work smart, success will find you.
Owning your own business is hard work. It is leaning into that hard work that will set you apart from your competition and will keep customers coming back to you and your products. By far, my biggest challenge has been time management. I’ve learned that it is important to ask for help when you need it and it’s even more important to accept help when it is offered. Knowing my limits and working within them has helped me to balance my business with my home life. As a stay at home mom to a 6 and 4 year old, finding that balance was very important to all of us.
Most days you can find me sharing whatever strikes my fancy on Facebook.
Occasionally you can hear me sending up Hoots on Twitter.
And you can always find my latest crushes on Pinterest.

I love so many of BOP signs! I’m a long time follower on facebook. I love the one for the nursery about being the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside. But I also love Baby its Cold Outside, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas =)

I love the Jefferson quote. I am an English teacher and collect inspirational quotes and post them all over my room. My students really enjoy them!

I love the Family Rules sign “make a difference.” We adopted our 14 year old son in October through the state’s foster care system. He’s spent all his life trying to survive and now we’re helping him learn to give back to those less fortunate that we are. This sign really speaks that message to us.

I like the fruits of the spirit and this is the day. Also love the Spring and Summer Fun signs. These are great! Words are very important, and it’s lovely to have such beautiful concrete ways of concentrating on them.

My favorite favorite is “We can do hard things.” I need that for somewhere in my house. But the one I will probably buy sooner is “I Am a Great Believer in Luck.” I feel like my American lit students need to see that sign often.
