Making Memories

Pretty much we got the best parents award this past weekend. If I’m being completely honest, it was my husband’s idea, so I guess he get’s major Daddy points, but I went along with it, so I’ll take some of those points as well. (although, if you’re friends with me on FB you’ll notice i lost some of those points when i threatened my child….oh, you didn’t hear that story? well, i’ll fill you in later)

Anyway, here in the UK they have a show called, In the Night Garden. The show totally creeped us out until our kids became obsessed with it & we realized it wasn’t creepy at all but totally cute. It’s the last show they play on their CBB’s channel (think PBS for you stateside people) before they shut off for the night. Google it, but beware, your children will get hooked.

So, we headed down on Saturday morning, the kids were SO excited. Lucas had somewhat of an idea of what we were doing, but Cohen knew EXACTLY what we were doing. We had been counting down for about a week & the joy on his face was priceless. We were the first ones to show up, so the kids got to take some of these pictures outside of the dome. Can you see how excited they were?! You have to remember, they are BOYS so showing excitement in photos is hard to capture, but I think we captured it well.

It’s kinda crazy to think this was one of the last things we did as a little family of 4. I don’t see us doing too much more in the next 6-10 weeks since this day had me wiped out days later. I’m listening to the song, You Make All Things New by Elevation Worship, and how the title doesn’t just fit perfectly. We will be getting all things new here soon. My pregnancy hormones are raging right now as I type this in tears. I’m not sure how my heart can fit any more love, but it will happen. More memories with more little bodies.

What family memories have filled your heart lately?

Still wondering about how I lost those parenting points?
The other day Lucas had his hand out ready to wack Cohen in the face.
So I said to him, “If you hit your brother, I will hit you even harder!”
He didn’t end up hitting Cohen.
Cohen thanked me for my awesome parenting skills.
I, on the other hand, had mixed feelings about my them.
Oh well.

If you are a regular around here, you would have noticed my little feature on this shop last month. If you’re new, well you’re in for a treat. Tania is quite the talented lady, featuring so many unique & fun gifts for your home, kitchen & life.

I have recently become an owner of some of her tea towels. I heart them. Plus, when I use them, I think about the hard work she put into them, instead of some machine that made it in China.

You can browse her shop, facebook or blog.

I’m pretty sure you’ll love her as much as I do.

xoxo

  1. Oh, I have had those parenting moments before, where I totally smack my forehead because I know I could have handled something more “grown up” .And when it gets really bad, I just whine louder than them all day! LOL But as you said, I’m sure your son appreciated it :D
It looks like you guys had a great day as a family!!

  2. Looks like you guys had a blast!! Those things kind of remind me of the tellitubbies back in the day, but not nearly as demented. Glad you were able to get out and spend some quality time with the boys. :)

  3. Ha, we felt the SAME way about In the Night Garden before our little Dot became hooked! At first, we just DIDN’T GET IT, thought it was super-creepy and weird, and wondered about the creators of the show (who ARE these people?!). But of course, that theme music comes on and The Dot starts dancing, walks right up to the t.v., and smiles this ginormous smile at Upsie-Daisy. So we’re hooked now too, and weirdly, the show makes sense to me now. Even those birds. Ha!

  4. Making memories is made of awesome. :)

My kids have hit each other… its a part of being brothers, that said we have made a rule in our house. That if one hits the other, the other can hit back. It’s all about defending themselves but the hitting has to explained and then hubby & I will decide if it it warrants a hit back or if the child did it for no reason then they get put on restriction.

Anyways, you rest up! Those beautiful girls will be here before you know it.

    {huge hugs}
