Oh you guys…..this morning was a day that will be burned in my mind forever. I signed Cohen up for Preschool in the fall. He has always been a Momma’s boy – never wanting to be too far from me – like @ bible study on Wednesday when he was screaming for me, asking if we could go home; yeah, that’s my kid. Well, this morning was different. We’ve been talking about the school for a few weeks now & when I told him we were going today he was SO excited.
We got to the school and that kid just went right over to the area where they had loads of cars, trucks & trains. I’m pretty sure they won him over with that. I filled out all the necessary paperwork right there & watched as he played. I was there for about an hour when it was time to go home. I went over to get Cohen and when I said we had to leave a melt down was in the works. He looked up at me and said, “Bye Mommy!” and waved – insisting that I leave him there.

The sweet lady that I met with told me that since I still needed to bring his passport up there for the paperwork I could leave him there to play while I go back and get it. I thought for sure he’d want to come with me when I said I was leaving. Nope. That kid took off and didn’t even look behind him.
Lucas, on the other hand, was not pleased we were leaving without his big brother. That kid cried the whole way to the car….and while in the car….thankfully we are literally just a minute drive from the school to our home.

When we returned, Cohen wasn’t thrilled about leaving, but took it like such a big boy. As we were walking out the door, he turned and waved to all the other kids and said, “Bye friends!” {aaawwweee} Yeah, the whole way home he kept telling me how sad he was to leave his new friends. Poor guy. Such a big heart he has.
So, come mid-September, my 1st baby will be joining the school forces. Such an exciting time for him & such a bittersweet moment for me. Although, I’m pretty sure come September 14th, I’ll be welcoming it since it will put 1 less kid in our home for 3 days a week

Did you put your child in preschool? Was it a hard transition for you / your kiddo?

Here’s Kristy’s post on this story board: Inspired Life
And she also has a wonderful video tutorial on how to use her Story-n-Blog Board Sets.

They really are quite fantastic. You get the collage effect with the added touches to make it more personable.

I put my daughter in 2 days a week when she turned 2, which is WAY earlier than I thought I ever would. But she absolutely loves it, and I get to spend the time in all the doctor’s appointments that stupid Okinawa makes me need
With my husband out of town a lot and working long hours when here, she and I both benefit from the change in scenery. She’s been begging to go back to school for the last couple of weeks.

My oldest was going to go to preschool this year too, but now we are moving, and I don’t think he’ll get to go in our new school district. My husband is a teacher, so maybe they have specials for employees, but from what I saw, preschool tuition is $150 a month! It would have been free here. Oh well, just have to wait another year until Kindergarten!

Oh, this makes me feel so much better about our current situation! With a little one on the way we were thinking about putting The Dot into a nursery over here just one morning a week – just to give her an escape from baby when s/he arrives. But after months of thinking this was the best thing for all of us, we decided just a few days ago that we (ahem, ME) just aren’t ready to be separated from one another yet. So we’ll be waiting until it’s time to put her into preschool, and I’m hoping she reacts just like your mama’s boy – ’cause she sure is my little mama’s girl at the moment! SO sweet, and I definitely think that means you’ve done an AMAZING job at being Cohen’s mama! xx

I am such a wimp when it comes to doing the preschool thing. I think I will have a harder time with it than Noah in the long run. There’s not a good quality school out here that’s worth sending him to, so we’ll be holding off another year until we find one worth the money and investment. But I’m going to have the HARDEST time letting him go. LOL
