Well, as some of you have noticed I have been away for over a week now. There are so many posts that I have up my sleeve regarding the birth, our hospital stay & life with twins – so stay tuned for those. For today I’m just going to flood you with some pictures and just give you the brief synopsis of what’s been going on in my “new” life.
September 19th – 36wks
Went for my bi-weekly scan & found out the girls hadn’t really grown since the last scan….maybe a few ounces. Were later told during our consultation that they were admitting me & were going to induce me that evening.

September 20th – 36wks 1 day
Went into the ward to wait for a bed in L&D (labor & delivery) ended up waiting from about 5pm-11pm until I had enough and told them I was going home to sleep and would return in the morning.
Returned the next morning, found out midday that they didn’t have cots for the girls in the NICU so they were going to transfer me to a different hospital.
3pm was transferred to a hospital closer to home. Got a tablet inserted to soften my cervix @6pm since it was completely closed.

September 21st – 36wks 2 days
Was supposed to get a 2nd tablet at midnight. No tablet was given bc they got busy in theatre (operating room). Pretty much waited around all day long bc they got busy. Finally that evening they checked me and I was about 3cm. They broke my water & then the waiting began.
Was transferred from the induction ward to my own room in L&D and labored there all night.

September 22nd – 36wks 3 days
3am I was checked & found out I was 10cm. Livia’s head was still a tad high so I labored for an hour so they could prepare the theatre & give my body some time to get her head lower. A little after 4pm I was transferred into the theatre. 4:50am Livia was born with 1 push & letting us all know she was in the room – weighing in at 4lbs 4oz. Abigail followed 16 minutes later at 5:06am – she was taken over and given oxygen to get her breathing started. No tears/rips/episiotomy. I was then transferred into the recovery ward with the babies.
After recovery, I was transferred into the Special Baby Care Unit since the girls needed monitoring.

Oh my goodness, how precious are they?! So happy to hear everyone is healthy and adjusting well. Can I ask why they chose not to do a c section? Wasn’t that the original plan? I have to have one and I am so nervous. 2 weeks from today and the boys will be here. How are the boys adjusting? I have been worried about Megan lately, in the past 2 weeks she has gotten really clingy.
Oh I am so happy for you! The girls are beautiful! I would love to hear about your life with twins & toddlers, I am sure you are such a rockstar with it! Congratulations!!

I want to hear it all! After going through infertility and miscarriages to conceive our 3.5 year old and 1 year old, we were blessed with a surprise pregnancy this summer, which we found out 4 weeks later was an even bigger surprise, Identical Twins! I found your blog by googling Monochorionic Diamniotic, lol. Anywho, congratulations!
How precious!!! Love these. Again soooo happy for you!!

I’ve been thinking about you and your girlies! First thing I’d like to know – how are YOU feeling? How are the girls, are they both well and okay? And how are your boys enjoying life with two new littles? Cannot WAIT to hear all about it, but do get some sleep too when you can! xx
