FAQS

How do I get started?
If you have decided you want me to design your blog, there are a few things that need to happen first.
1. Read my Terms of Design and decide if you are comfortable with them.
2. Read through my “Getting Started Page“, this will help to answer any unanswered questions for you.
3. Choose the package you would like from my Design Services page & fill out the Potential Client Form.
4. Wait for a confirmation/decline email from me within 48hrs.
5. Pay deposit as quoted or design extras in full

I don’t even have a blog yet, can you help me?
Of course I can! We all start somewhere! You need to make a decision on whether you want to be on a free blogger platform or want to own your own site and get a self-hosted WordPress site. You can read about the pros/cons to each here.

What platform do you design for?
I design blogs on Blogger AND WordPress (self-hosted sites). I even offer clients the option to move from Blogger to WordPress. If you are unsure about either of these platforms, read the Pros and Cons of Blogger & WordPress.

How do I pay you?
All payments are made through PayPal. Don’t worry, you don’t have to join to use it, but it’s the most effective way of payment that is fast and secure.

When will you start on my design?
Once I have approved your Potential Client Form your design will start the following month. The start date depends on my current projects and my wait list. To be more informed on when I will be able to start your blog check out my Current Projects page.

How does this whole ‘design’ process work?
Well, once I get your deposit and your site is out of the queue – the designing begins! You will have access to a ‘test site’ where you’ll be able to witness the slow changes taking place. You will be able to comment on the site letting me know what you like, don’t like, changes you want to see take place. You are in complete control of what goes into your blog.

Do you have any examples of your work?
I sure do! Check out my portfolio to see the work I’ve done. It is updated every time a new site/design element is completed so check back often!

I thought I liked my design, but I think I want it changed, how can you help me?
I try my best to ensure that you are 100% satisfied with your site before it goes live so this isn’t an issue. I do realize that sometimes a few weeks later you may notice something that you didn’t think bothered you before, changes will be *free* for one month after your site is live, after that time period, your site will be charged at an hourly rate of $45.

I found a really cool graphic/image/background that I want used on my site, can you make it for me?
Any image or graphic that you would like installed on your site needs to be purchased by you with the commercial license. The Momma Bird is not responsible for obtaining these rights. You can look at my Resources page for sites where you can find more information on it.

How will I know how things are going with my design?
I will be sure to inform you of the progress being made on your blog. Communication is KEY in the design process. There will be many emails for approval of design elements and the longer it takes for your response, the longer it takes for your design to be complete.

Do I need to buy my own domain name and hosting site?
If you are choosing a self-hosted WordPress site than YES! You can go to my Discounts page or Resources page for sites to use for purchasing your own domain and host site. The Momma Bird is not responsible for buying your domain & hosting. All of this needs to be done by you.
If you are staying with the free blogger design, it’s not necessary.

Do you accept everyone that requests your services?
Unfortunately I can not accept every request that comes my way. I am a full-time stay-at-home Momma to my 2 little boys & baby girls, with blog design as my part-time job. That being said, I do my best to accept most potential clients. I do, however, reserve the right to refuse services at any time.

What is your work schedule?
I’m a Work-At-Home-Mom, which means I work when I can. My hours are pretty flexible but here is a general idea of when I work:

Monday, Wedneday-Friday:
8:00am-9:00pm

Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday:
I will only work on these days if I don’t have prior obligations.
If you email/contact me on these days, please allow 2-3 business days for me to reply.

I do reside in England so I am 5hrs ahead of Eastern Standard Time. Most blog installs will be done when I wake up so that there is plenty of time to sort out the details while America sleeps.
